Review: Obagi Professional-C Microdermabrasion + Mask

Those who know me, know I am a sucker for a good mask.  Not the lockdown type, the make your skin feel shiny and new type.  My excitement was next level, when the kind people at Obagi Medical gifted me with their new Obagi Professional-C Microdermabrasion Polish + Mask.  It's a mouthful,  but all the right words appeared in the name.

What is it?

Obagi Professional-C Microdermabrasion Polish + Mask is an exfoliation and rejuvenation treatment hybrid. It boosts skin texture and leaves you radiant.  All while it defends against free-radical damage.

Who should use it?

Recommended for ageing, dull skin that has a tolerance for a high percentage of Vitamin C.

What's in it?

Some key ingredients include 30% L-Ascorbic Acid.  Proven to fight free-radicals and promote glowing skin.  Soybean and Sea Berry Fruit Oil will hydrate dull skin and leave it smooth.  Poly Hydroxy Acids for a gentle exfoliation. And the ultra fine plant-based crystals prepare the skin for the powerful vitamin C infusion.  Completely Paraben, Sulfate and Phthalate-free, with a citrus fragrance.

How do I use it?

  • Warm in the hands and gently apply a thin layer to clean, damp skin.  Don't over scrub.

  • Leave on for 10-15 minutes.

  • Wipe off with a soft, wet cloth.

  • Use 1-2 times  per week at the beginning.  You can use it up to 3 times but don't overdo it.  Stop usage if any skin sensitivity arises.

  • Remember to always apply a high-factor broad spectrum SPF in the day.

  • Use the mask in the evening, as it can cause some redness.

What did I think?

vitamin c mask

I absolutely love the bright packaging.  The orange product really gives a vitamin C  feel.   My first encounter was not that great.  The product was hard to get out of the container and didn't spread well.  My own fault as I missed the warm the product in your hands bit.

My second encounter was much better.  I had left it next to my bed and the occasional sun rays, had made product softer and easier to use.  I applied a thin layer and left it on for 15 minutes.  My skin tolerates Vitamin C very well, however if you are new to using it, practice caution.

On removing from my skin, I had quite a bit of redness.  However my skin was left soft, and the next day had a super glow to it.

Although not the easiest to use, I love the results and as I become more acquainted it is a twice weekly staple in my skin regime.

Where can I find it?
